Stewardship Stories

We asked people to share their Stewardship Story about how they offer their gifts to God and why. Here are a couple of stories.  Our prayer is that these stories inspire others to live their faith! If you would like to share your story send us an e-mail or post to our Facebook page. (We won’t use your name unless you agree to let us.)

Chuck Johnson (Praise Team Member)

1. How do you "Live Your Faith" by using the gifts God has given?

Chuck: I sing.  God has granted me a big, if not always pleasant-sounding, voice.  I have always tried to use my voice to sing God’s praises.

2. Why do you do these things?

Chuck: Psalm 98:4 says: "Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all the earth: make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise.”  I do what I’m told.

3. Has it made a difference?  To others?  To you?

Chuck: I don’t know; it makes me feel good.  I could not have made it through my life to this point without music.  I hope that my offering is acceptable to God, and I hope others feel moved to join in the praise.

Sherry Hoesly (Operation Christmas Leader)

1. How do you "Live Your Faith" by using the gifts God has given?

Sherry: Organizing and participating in Operation Christmas is an annual event I choose each year.  In addition, I try to volunteer and/or donate to specific programs or events that help others such as Meals on Wheels or donating items to the PhD closet or Food Pantry.

2. Why do you do these things?

Sherry: I try not to lose sight of the fact that I am really fortunate and blessed and should not take those blessings for granted. My faith encourages me to look for ways to help others, when and where I can.

3. Has it made a difference?  To others?  To you?

Sherry: It always makes me feel good to know I have tried to make a difference in some way. I've received the thank you notes from the children who receive gifts from Operation Christmas as well as the gratitude of my Meals on Wheels clients, so in those cases, I know I have made some impact on them.  In other cases, I may never know, nor do I need to know, if something I've done has impacted someone.  That's for God to take care of and use whatever I've done to serve his purposes.
